Flairlight are fortunate to represent two German-based companies that share our values of Quality, Passion and Innovation.

Flairlight and dot-spot: How it all began

Mike was at the famous Light + Build show in 2015.

15,000 steps in on Day 2, feeling jaded he was tempted by the beers displayed in a big crystal vase with interesting luminous ice cubes.

What Mike thought were ice cubes were actually cube, colour-changing lights.

And after a lovely chat with a dot-spot representative, Mike was shown around the dot-spot showroom and was completely blown away.

When Mike realised they didn’t have a representative in the UK he was delighted to be offered an opportunity for Flairlight to be their UK partner.

That evening, Mike booked a trip to go and see dot-spot’s warehouse and team in Nuremberg, Germany.  They went out that evening for beer and sausage, and the rest as they say, is history.

Mike reminisces, “We went to the factory and they showed me how they make everything.  The quality, care and attention to detail was exceptional and second to none.  I was like, WOW.”

The very next day, Flairlight were introduced as dot-spot’s UK sole partner.

Lovely people.  Amazing products.

The dot-spot story

dot-spot was founded by Thomas Hodel in 2010.

Frustrated that he couldn’t get small, stainless steel, LED light fittings for his new house project, Thomas decided to take matters into his own hands and create his own solution.

Thomas had a friend who worked in stainless steel, and another connection who worked in product development for Lufthansa Airlines.

They came together in his garage and created lights for Thomas’s house.

He loved them so much, he set up dot-spot and within a year he had packed in his high-flying marketing job at ISG and was working full time on growing dot-spot.

About dot-spot products

Dot-spot focus their efforts on super high quality, outdoor products.  They are great for swimming pools, yachting and outdoor landscape design.

Their products are popular in the Middle East as they are high quality, stainless steel (which is better for the environment than aluminium) and designed to weather temperatures of up to 50 degrees without faulting.

Some impressive projects include 3,800 lamps developed specifically by dot-spot for the impressive Aspire Tower in the Emirate of Qatar.

Today, Nuremberg’s Kettensteg is illuminated by dot-spot lamps; they have ensured that Vienna’s Prater can also cause stars to shine on the ground.

In Offenbach stadium, the football pitch lights up the ceiling.

In Shanghai, dot-spot lamps float on the gondolas over the city.
